Year 7 2027 - The Journey starts here
As we prepare to welcome our newest CBC Gentlemen, it's important that we have the most up-to-date information to help us understand your son and support his individual needs.

Our aim is to ensure that every boy's transition into the College is welcoming and positive, so he feels confident and supported from his very first day at CBC Fremantle.
If there are any changes to your contact details or other information relating to your son, please contact the Registrar, Emma Polain, at enrol@cbcfremantle.wa.edu.au.
Academic Testing – Monday 12 October 2026
To help us better understand each student's academic strengths and learning needs, the College will conduct Literacy and Numeracy testing on Monday 12 October, at the following times:
-
9.00am to 10.45am: Surnames A–F
-
11.30am to 1.15pm: Surnames G–O
-
2.00pm to 3.45pm: Surnames P–Z
Students should arrive 15 minutes before their session and enter via the Ellen Street gates, proceeding to The Cloisters for check-in, where staff will be available to assist.
Students are required to:
- Wear their usual primary school uniform
- Bring a pencil and eraser
- Bring a water bottle
We encourage all students to attend their allocated session, as results assist with class placements and Mathematics stream allocations for the commencement of Year 7.
If your son is unable to attend, please email enrol@cbcfremantle.wa.edu.au.
Orientation Day – Monday 7 December 2026
All new Year 7 students are invited to attend from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at CBC Fremantle.
Parents are asked to remain until 10.00am, during which time they will receive important information and meet key staff. We are also pleased to welcome Paul Litherland, who will present on online safety. Morning tea will be provided following the presentation.
Further details will be shared closer to the date.
Haircuts and SmartRider Photos
Student photos will be taken on Orientation Day so that SmartRiders can be ordered in preparation for the commencement of Year 7.
We encourage families to ensure their son has a CBC-appropriate haircut for Orientation Day . A CBC haircut is short, neat and tidy — off the ears, off the collar and out of the eyes. If a fringe can be tucked behind the ears, it is considered too long. Hair should not be shaved below a number 3, and any variation in hair length should be blended rather than showing a significant or abrupt change in length.
Please note that we are unable to order a SmartRider using a photograph that does not meet College expectations. This may delay your son receiving his SmartRider in time for his first day of Year 7.
We understand that it may not be possible for all students to have their hair cut prior to Orientation Day. However, all students are required to have a CBC-appropriate haircut by Day 1 of Term 1 .
House Allocations
House allocations will be emailed at the beginning of November.
While siblings will be placed in the same House and mentor group, we appreciate families understanding that House requests can only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
